20th August 2018
CET Evening : 25th September 2018
In the first of the Autumn/Winter CET lectures this year we are pleased to welcome Peter Charlesworth whose presentation/workshop will be entitled
'What makes us fit to practice?'
A former lecturer at the University of Bradford and Tutor Practitioner at Boots, Peter has been involved in designing and developing education for most
of his professional life. His presentation summary says: "Complaints against optometrists can come from a variety of sources, not just from patients.
How can you avoid being the subject of a fitness to practise case and if you are, what are the best ways to minimise any sanction?
My lecture will review the GOC's fitness to practice procedure and will review the findings of recent FTP hearings."
The meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th September and will start promptly at 6.15pm following on from a buffet available from 5.45pm.
The CET type will be a discussion workshop, will be worth 3 CET points and will be suitable for Optometrists/Dispensing Opticians/Contact Lens Opticians and Therapeutic Optometrists.
Following on from Peters event will be a short presentation by Moira Horsfield talking about
Low Vision Services in Wakefield. Moira will explain how to access the services and what they can offer. This should be an interesting and varied evening and we do hope you will come along.
The venue, as usual will be the Holmfield Eating Inn, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield WF2 8DY
If you would like to attend, please email your details and GOC number to firstname.lastname@example.org
so that we can prepare the CET paperwork and order appropriate refreshments. The number of places will be strictly limited so early application is recommended as a high demand is expected.
